Feroz Kotla Stadium hosted the first 200+ score and that came in both the innings of Delhi DareDevils and Kings XI Punjab. There was the flow of runs when Punjab were just 29 runs sort of 231 runs made by Delhi.

Sehwag and Warner started the innings after winning the toss in a very high. They made 146 runs partnership in 11.4 overs. Sehwag was the first one to go with 77 off 35 (8X4s and 4X6s). At 16th over Warner go outin 77 off 48 when the team score was 176/3. Then Venugopal Rao (28*) and Nawan Ojha (19*) were the cameos at the end which got the team to 231 runs.

In reply to the huge total, Punjab's new hero Valthaty got early but Shaun Marsh and Adam Gilchrist took the match ahead. Gilchrist made 44 runs off 33 balls. Shaun Marsh continued his brilliant form in IPL and team were one stage 150/3 in 15th over with Hussey and Mars in crease. But the target was too high and the innings had to crummble at the end. Marsh was out on 95 off 46 (9X4s and 6X6s). Finally, Punjab were settled in just 202 runs in 20 overs.

Kings XI Punjab has got their first victory in IPL 2011. They defeat the defending champion Chennai by 6 wickets. Punjab chased the target of 189 runs in 19.1 overs with wickets remaining. All the credit goes to their opener Paul Valthaty who scored 120 runs 63 off balls. Valthaty scored 19 fours and two sixes.

Choosing to bowl first after winning the toss, Punjab's Praveen Kumar started with two wickets in first two balls. Murali Vijay an Badrinath guided the innings to 124 runs in 15th over. Then the Chennai captained scored 43 off 22 after getting out in last ball of the inning. Murali Vijay scored 74 runs whereas Badrinath was not out at 66.

Deccan Chargers won the IPL match against Kings XI Punjab 6 runs in a very close encounter at Cuttack. Batting first, Deccan made 170 thanks to an invaluable knock of 53 by Symonds and the quick start by Gilchrist. In reply, KXIP got poor start and lost wickets at regular interval. But Irfan Pathan played of cameo inning of 60 of just 29 balls but couldn't drive the team to victory as they made 164 in 20 overs.

Kings XI Punjab has appointed Kumar Sangakkara as their new captain and too have included three domestic players for IPL 2010. The three new players include the medium-pacer Love Ablish, batsman Manvinder Bisla and another medium pacer Shalabh Srivastava. Srivastava is a former ICL player while Bisla is a wicketkeeper batsman who playerd for Deccan Chargers in 2009. Ablish was the third highest wicket taker in Ranji Trophy 2009-10.
