The 1st test between India and South Africa has started in Nagpur. South Africa won the toss and chose to bat first. After end of day 3 South Africa are in total command. They have enforced follow on to the Indian team which are still 259 runs behind at the end of day 3. India are batting on 66/2 in second inning after their 233 in first. Hats off to Dale Steyn who took 7 Indian wickets in first inning.
Day 1 Highlights: India got a superb start with Zaheer taking two wickets of both openers within 7 overs. But the nightmare for bowlers began as Jacques Kallis and Hasim Amla rescued the team and took them to a very commanding position. Kallis made 159 runs on Day 1 and Hasim Amla is on 115 both being not out. Though Zaheer took two wickets, another pacer Ishant was not very good. Neither were the two spinners Mishra and Harbajan Singh. It felt great to watch Kallis batting so beautifully.
Highlights of Day 2: Hasim Amla continued with the same class and patience. Kallis got out early making 173 but it was Amla who looked so calm and comfortable. He got to his 200 and finally made 253 not out before Graeme Smith Declared the inning towards the end of the day with South Africa making 558/6. Ab de Villars too got his half century. India got 4 overs to play were they made 25/0. Gambir and Sehwag looked aggressive countering with the short balls well.
Highlights of Day 3 : Dale Steyn has destroyed the Indian batting taking 7 wickets. Sehwag got to a century but India became all out on 233 not even able to avoid the Follow on. S Badrinath made a fifty too. India came to bat again and are now 66/2 loosing Sehwag and Gambhir and trail by 259 runs.
