After ruling out the multiple captain system, it was thought Ganguly's problems in Knight Riders are swept away. But the team has suddenly announced their decision to make McCullum the captain instead of Sourav Ganguly for the whole season of 2009.
The poor Sourav Gamguly after losing captaincy stated that he was in the favor of decision and it will be good for him as he wouldn't have excuses for not performing well. Sourav said "Shah Rukh has spoken to me and he's given Buchanan everything he wanted, including the captain, and stated that there could now be no excuse for not performing."McCullum on the other hand stated he was extremely happy to get the new job.
Kinght Riders despite being the favorites showed miserable performance in IPL 2008 and it the new shocking decisions has made it the highlight before the start of IPL 2009. It would be interesting to see how it would be when these new decisions will be implemented.
