Australia Downfall : South Africa wins the series in 4th ODI

The world no. 1 South Africa defeated the no 2 Australia in the 4th ODI at Port Elizabet. This means host nation have the series win position 3-1, still one match to go in the series. Great slap on the Australian supremacy.

Herselle Gibbs showed his class with his blistering 21st ODI hundred and further spinners did the rest to restrict the Aussie below 61 runs. Australia got a huge target of 318 runs to come back in the series.

Man of the match HH Gibbs was in great form and his partnership with the AB De Villiers was the great moment to watch in the 1st innings of the match. Gibbs scored 9-fours and 2-sixes for his 110 off 116 runs. Opening with captain Smith and Gibbs, Proteas had moderate start of 87-2 in 18th over. Then runs kept getting on from both ends.

AB had 3 sixes and 6 fours before he was "c Ferguson b Johnson" at 84 from the 74 balls. Australian spinners seemed to be ruthless in the game as Clarke and Haurtiz bowleds 3 and 7 resp. to give out 73 runs and were wicketless. Pretty fine job from the Seamers as there was no thing for them in the track.

Someone at the top was really needed to go after SA's attack from the beginning. Haddin had a great start opening with Micheal Clarke. Before Botha picked Haddin at 21st over Australia had 129 runs in the board. Then the downfall started. Wickets kept on falling. Haddin was awesome in the beginning as he smashed the quickies 4 sixes and 7 fours making his score count to 78 off 61. Clarke had 50 runs from 63 with 4 fours.

RE van der Merwe, South African spinner came as the gift for5 captain smith who had three wickets in pretty quick succession. Firstly, Clarke, then followed Furgusion and Micheal Hussey. South Africa were then pretty high in the game. But captain of counterpart was in the other end.

Ricky ponting played a different innings then we usually see him play. He waited 63 balls and 70 minutes for his first boundary. Then in 40th over with Hopes at other end, powerplay was taken. Funny scene there 44044 in 1st 5 balls of Dale steyn which had the maximum feild changes. Amazingly the feild placing changed as from one part to other in 2 balls. Ponting was at his best in those glamorous hits. Unluck Aussie captain its wicket time. After the ball he got for 4 and his half-century he was missed out. Everything then was at mess.

Dale Steyn finished at 4-44 in 7.5 overs sweeping away the Australian Tail. Difference was 'Spinners', Aussie were poor at that term and Proteas were at the high. RE van der Merwe and Botha came as a gift of god taking away the top 4 Aussie wickets. Different scenario of South African team this time. Two spinners doing a great deal among the quick ones.

1 match still go and its on Friday at Johannesburg. Could Australia save the prestige in some little manner of getting 2-3 lost or bear shameful 1-4 lost? Australia will then travel to Abu Dhabi to meet Pakistan for 5 ODIs and 1 T20 starting April 22.
