The home team has gone up against India in the 1st T20. Good all round performance from the team has put the home side ahead. Every member of the team came ahead for the victory. But among them Man of the match Bendon McCullum got more credit with his 56 not out on 49 balls.
Chosing to bat first after winning the toss, India seemed to start quickly. Virender Sehwag showed his capabilities of hitting hard sixes when he got 3 of the in the 1st over of Tim Southee. But on the other hand Gambhir has to miss when O'brien clean bold him in the 2nd Over when he was just six. Then Suresh Raina came to crease.
But Wicket remained to fell as Sehwag gome for 26 runs of 10 balls on 3rd over. R Sharma, Y Singh and MS Dhoni came and went and eam score became 5-61 in 8th over. Yusuf Pathan tried something more with his 20 off 8 balls but he also had to leave and his younger brother Irfan Pathan also came and went for just 12 runs and team score was 101-7 in 13.3 overs.
It seems that5 India is going for below than 150. But thanks to the brilliant outplay of Suresh Raina from the top. With 5 max sixes and 2 fours Raina made a not out innings of 61 from 49 balls. For the 8th wicket Harbhajan Singh also help him with his quick 21 runs making the team score 162-8 in given 20 overs.
Taking about the bowling, Captain Vettori gave 18 runs with 1 wicket in his 4 overs. O'Brien and butter took 2 wickets each and T Southee, N McCullum and Ryder got a wicket each.
New Zealand came to chase the target of 163 in Queenschurch in their inning at 1st T20. India had the start as they wanted for the moment when they dismissed Ryder in the 2nd over of Ishant Sharma when it came 2-1. Then the opener McCUllum and Guptill 54 Run partnership, Taylor and McCullum 50 run partnership and Oram and McCullum not out partnership of 57 runs got the home team home.
B McCullum not out on 56 off 49 with 2 fours and 3 sixes came the hero for NZ's victory. Guptill got 41 off 28 before Harbhajan got his wicket. Taylor 31 off 20 and Oram not out 29 off 15. Home team were easily in the home as there was more 2 1.1 overs with 7 wickets remaining.
The next match is on 27th of FEB which is the final T20.
