Australia vs New Zealand twenty20 - Highlights

Aus Vs NZ t20 on Feb 15, 2009
Match Result: Australia won by 1 run.
Australia 1st innings: 150 for 7 in 20 overs.
New Zealand : 149 for 5 in 20 overs.

Australia won the twenty20 against New Zealand by just one run in a very exciting match. New Zealand required 14 runs in the last over but could get only 12 with Franklin run out in the first ball. New Zealand finally required 12 runs of last two balls but NL McCullum hit 4 runs in 5th ball and it required 8 runs of last balls which was impossible unless there was a wide or no ball. McCullum got maximum i.e a six but was not enough and Australia own.

Earlier B McCullum has 61 runs for NZ. For Australia Hussey was top scorer with 41.

One of the best feature of the match was an incredible catch from Adam Voges for Australia. In 18.1 over B McCullum was on 61 and NZ required 20 runs from 12 balls.

How Adam Voges took the incredible catch:

Hilfenhaus bowled to McCullum, he hit it high at long-on and Voges takes the catch but throws the ball in air as he goes out of the ropes, moves forward again and takes the catch with a brilliant attempt. Simply, one of the best catches I have ever seen.

If this was not taken, it would probably a six and NZ would require just 14 runs in 11 balls with McCullum on crease. Voges is the hero for Australia. He proved the fact that catches wins matches.

  1. Credits goes to Adam Voges. His catch was the turning point of the match. For me its the best catch ever in the world of cricket.
