Mumbai Indians defeated the Kolkata Knight Riders in the Eliminator of IPL 2011 by 4 wickets. This means they will play against the RCB which then will confirm the side playing finals against the Chennai.
Mumbai had a great start both in the first and second innings of the match. They took 20-4 of Kolkata in 5.3 overs and were 80/0 in 7.3 overs.Kolkata gave Mumbai the target of 148 runs. It seemed way easy for Mumbai initially when Blizzard and Sachin were batting. But finally Mumbai had a narrow 4-wickets win with 4 balls remaining with the six!! of Harchajan against Shakib. James Franklin again proved to be the hero in chase at the end. Franklin made 29 off 25 balls. Earlier Blizzard made 51 off 30 and Sachin 36 0ff 29.
Getting asked to bat first, Kolkata had a terrible start as they lost 4 top-order batsmen for just 20 runs in 5.3 overs. Kallis, Raina, Goswammi and Tiwary had the early departure for Kolkata. RN ten Doeschate and Pathan got the Kolkata somewhat relief. Doeschate was the major contributor as he made 70* runs off 49 balls. Pathan was out for 26 off 24 balls. Finally ten Doeschate and Shakib-ul-Hasan led the team to somehhow respective total of 147/7 in 20 overs.
