The good news for Pakistani fans(especially me) is that Abdul Razzaq will play the match after a long, long time. He was dropped in ICC World T20 2007 which forced him to sign for the ICL where he was one of the best players both with bat and bowl. But after being released, he has replaced Yasir Arafat. Razzaq, an all-rounder is one of the hardest hitter of ball.

After a dominating win against India, West Indies will battle against South Africa, regarded as tournament favorites by many. Both of them, grouped in group E have won 1-each match in super eights. West Indies have shown a solid display in the World T20 with win against he mighty Aussies and then against defending champions. Ashes 2009 : Fixtures and Schedules
The Ashes, one of the oldest and most popular cricket tournaments with a long history is set to have its another version starting from July 8, 2009 in England. Australia and England will battle for this prestigious title which is currently in the hands of the Aussies. Last time, Australia made a clean sweep winning all 5 tests. They are yet to clash against the big nations in this year's ICC World Twenty20. India also had decent match against those teams. Youngsters did a very fine job.
West Indies a memorable start to the tournament in England where they defeated the Australians by a huge margin. The ideal start what the team would have wanted. West Indies had to lose its both matches in 2007 T20 World Cup and was sent back to the home before the Super Eights. This time the lights of Chris Gayle is expected to make the team more further.
Indian Team:
News from the center is that Virender Sehwag is unavailabe for the further matches in the series. This is a great lowdown for the Indian team. Dinesh Karthik will be replacing Virender Sehwag. The team instead looks very much brilliant. Many new youngsters to the side and they are performing very well. Rohit Sharma is in great touch and Pragyan Ojha is the leading wicket-taker for them.
Apart from R Sharma, Gautam Gambhir is also giving a great start to the team. The IPL campaign seems to be doing great for the team. Suresh Raina is another youngster who is in great form. Any of this top order youngsters again fires then the team will have very great start in batting. Talking about the Dhoni's recent form, he is the one who is going a side from the track. No one is unaware if his capabilities and when he fires then it gives great chance of victory. Yusuf Pathan, having yet another brilliant IPL didn't had a lot to do in the group stage but now the scenario is different, and he also should perform well.
Pragyan Ojha is doing great job with his spin attack and should continue to more ranked teams in Group E. Pace attack lead by Zaheer Khan is well supported by Ishant Sharma and RP Singh. Irfan Pathan also might be there in the squad. But the important topic is that how the opening bowler will react against the Chris Gayle after seeing his last match. They will surely watch the video many times before bowling to him.
West Indies Team:
First talking matter is the captain Chris Gayle. No suprisement if he again holds the Indian as they did again t the Australian last time. Gayle missed the match against Lanka and the team seemed to be different than they were against the Australians. Important thing is that along with his captaincy, his team really requires the allround performance from him.
Some experienced name in the squad like Sarwan and Chanderpaul should hold on the middle-order. Big all-rounders and hitters like Marshall, Fletcher, Kieron Pollard and the veteran Dwaryne Bravo. Great names in the paper and sould act themselves great from their match action.
Bowling attack in the start was the main dfference in the win and lost in the 1st round of ICC T20 2009. The opening attack from Taylor and Fidel Edwards will be important term. If they can get couple or more success in the early overs than the match will be in different feel. Chris Gayle and Suliemen Benn should hold on the spin attack in the middle overs. Bravo's accuracy and slow bowl in the end overs seems to be important aspect for the team.
All together both the teams seems to be in contender for the victory but the victory will be for those who will perform well. The match is very important match and will be release enormous amount of pressure for the fight for the place in semi-final.

The first match on super eight is between the two group F teams, Ireland and New Zealand. It is important match for the both teams. T20 World Cup 2009 Super Eights
The teams for the super Eights have been nominated and the matches of super-eights will be starting form the June 11. Two teams from each group that makes eight teams have qualified for the super-eight matches. The eight teams are further divided in two groups i.e., Group E and F. Here is the list of team qualified for the super eight or 2nd round of ICC World Twenty20 2009:
Talking about the selected teams, some suprises could be seen. First surprise is the missing Australia in the both groups. In the 1st round Australia was along Sri Lanka and West Indies. Australia had to loose both its matches and was out of the tournament. Another part is Bangladesh, who was also defeated in its both match against India and Ireland. This is the Ireland's second chance in Super Eights. Ireland was in super Eights of ICC World Cup 2007 in WI. Netherlands, who had impressive victory against England was knock-out by Pakistan. All three teams in Group B had same points but the Net Run Rate made Dutch out of series. South Africa topped group D along with New Zealand in second spot. Scotland lost its both match and was ruled out before the Super 8s.

The veterans against the Australia, Sri Lanka and West Indies will play for the group top spot here in Nottingham. Both the teams have defeated Australia in their initial matches. SL an WI have already qualified for the 2nd round of ICC World Twenty20 2009. The match will be played for the prestige and will want the win in order to build up the confidence in the series.
West Indies defeated Australia by a huge margin. Thanks to the great batting from the Captain Chris Gayle. Gayle seemed to be unstoppable throughout the match. Unlike other matches, there was somebody giving the support to the aggressive Gayle. Fletcher scored a half century giving the opening stand of 130 runs between Gayle and himself. Bowling attack was equally great. Two early wickets in the first over from Taylor and brilliant pace-attack till the end. Something that needs to improve is the spin-attack. Benn and Gayle didn't have great time with the ball in the hand.
Sri Lanka was always in the top in the match against Australia. Talking about their bowling attack, the restriction of Australia to 159 was very much meant bowlers did great job in that ground. Ajantha Mendis showed his talent yet another time and picked three wickets for 20 runs. It seemed no-one was able to pick Mendis and his accuracy stopped the flow of runs. Jayasuriya was looking in bad touch with both ball and bat. As his duty is to take the team into very good start but could not establish well. Dilshan seemed unstoppable as he batted beautifully giving continuity to the form he got in IPL. Captain Sangakkara who is great in every form of cricket made got the victory for the Lankans.
The first thing to be watched will always be the Chris Gayle and Sanath Jayasuriya. Then, Mendis and Suleman Benn, Malingha and Edwards, Dilshan and Fletcher and others too.
Interesting to see will be that the team will be unchanged from both sides or they will give chance to the other players in the dressing room as they are already ahead in the series.

After a loss against England, Pakistan are in the danger of early exit from ICC World T20 2009. Australia out of T20 World cup 2009
The 50-over champions and the team which has ruled the test cricket for more than a decade has theoretically become the worst team in ICC World Twenty20 2009. Loosing two out of two matches in group stage, Australia has become the second team after Bangladesh to be out of T20 World cup. Its performance is lot poorer than teams like Ireland and Netherlands apart from other top nations.
Reasons why Australia got out of T20 World cup 2009 so early:
i)Poor fixture and group division of ICC World Twenty20: The division of group is just based on the performance of teams in T20 format of the game which has a very short history. In one of the group you find India, Bangladesh and Ireland and in other West Indies, Sri Lanka and Australia. One of the team in Australia's group was sure to be out from first stage. The performance in T20 should not have been the basis of group division.
ii) The magic of Gayle and Mendis : Chris Gayle and Ajantha Mendis are two players in world cricket today when in touch are completely uncontrollable. Chris Gayle, the West Indies' captain played an unbelievable inning showing ruthless hitting against bowlers like Brett Lee. On the other hand, Ajantha Mendis whom Australia faced for the first time was superb with the ball. No batsman including Ricky Ponting, Watson, Hussey couldn't read him. iii) Selection of Australian team: Austalia didn't have much difference between their T20 and ODI or test team. Loosing player like Symonds was a big disadvantage. The selection was not great. Players like Dirk Nannes and Brad Haddin who played well in IPL were not selected. Selected T20 specialists like Nathan Hauritz and Cameron White were not used.
I think the first reason is the main and the fixtures should be made carefully. I hope ICC would not make such mistakes in near future.

Net Run Rate in cricket
Net Run Rate has been playing vital role in deciding the team advancing to next stage in competitions like World cup, T20 World cup, Indian premier league and so on. They are used in T20 and 50-over ODI cricket in the manner similar to goal difference in football(soccer). In simple words its the difference of run rate of a team and the run rate of the opposing team. If a team gets all out before batting for prescribed overs (20 overs in T20 or 50 over in ODI), then the run rate is calculated by dividing the runs scored by whole prescribed overs.
How is net run rate in cricket calculated ? Calculation of Net run rate step by step:
1) First of all get the total runs scored by the team. Wickets are never counted.
2) Get the total overs batted by the team. If teams bat all overs then all 50 or 20 overs are taken. If they are all out then still all 50 or 20 over is taken. In case team batting second, only the overs it batted is taken.
3) Divide the total runs scored by the overs.
4) Net Run Rate for a team is the difference of its total run rate and another teams total run rate in the match. In case of loss, its negative, 0 when a draw and positive when won.
5) In a series, net run rate is the average of rates of the team. Its equal to sum of run rates in each match divided by total matches.
In recent T20 World cup it has been a vital factor. In IPL 2009, Deccan Chargers qualified for the semis though they had same points as Punjab due to better net run rate.
