Sehwag 40, Rohit Sharma 43 Ryder 3 wickets
New Zealand 15/2 in 23.2 overs

The 5th ODI at New Zealand got a late start due to rain. The match got reduced to only 43 overs. India batted first but unlike other matches of the series, India got a good start for first few overs but spoiled everything. Ryder showed brilliant all-round performance taking 3 wikcets and also scoring 63 runs.

Indian innings:

Sehwag tried to continue the way he played in the last match by hitting a six 3rd ball. He continued firing and hit another six in 2.3 over off the same bowler Mills. In 2.5 over Mills got the wicket of Gambhir who trying to hit a ball moving away got caught by keeper. The score was 30/1

Sehwag continued and hit another six in the 7.4 over. In an aim to hit another six Sehwag nearly got caught after two balls but got lucky to be dropped by safe hands of Taylor. The score was a flier with 61 in 8 overs. Raina got dropped in the 4th ball of 8th over. A very easy chance for New Zealand. But Raina couldn't escape from a catch by Styris in 9.4 over and got out. The score was 65/2 in 9.4 over

Sehwag got out in 11.5 over on 40 runs off 27 balls. In an attempt to hit another shot, he gets a top edge, McCullum catches it and Oram strikes for New Zealand. Score moves to 69/3 in 11.5 over. Yuvraj got out in making just 11 runs in 18.5 overs. Dhoni, Pathan and Harbhajan followed as they didn't make useful contributions. Score was 116/7 in 27.3 overs.

Rohit Sharma seemed to be in good touch. A six in the 20th Over by him was fabulous. No one was there to support him. Zaheer got out in 31.2 over and score was 131/8. Praveen Kumar got out too and Ishant Sharma followed. India became all out in 149 in 36.3 overs. New Zealand bowlers have somewhat restored their pride which was lost in the previous matches.

New Zealand innings
McCullum and Ryder came to the crease to chase 150 run chase. India had a quick breakthrough of Bendon McCullum. Praveen Kumar bold McCullum for ust 2 runs. But the 2nd wicket patnership between Guptill and Ryder made the chase closer for NZ. Though Ryder was out on 14.3 over, Guptill went on and won the match for NZ.

There were many cracks in the Indian armour over the whole series. None of the long term development needs were addressed at all.
