Kings XI Punjab has got their first victory in IPL 2011. They defeat the defending champion Chennai by 6 wickets. Punjab chased the target of 189 runs in 19.1 overs with wickets remaining. All the credit goes to their opener Paul Valthaty who scored 120 runs 63 off balls. Valthaty scored 19 fours and two sixes.
Choosing to bowl first after winning the toss, Punjab's Praveen Kumar started with two wickets in first two balls. Murali Vijay an Badrinath guided the innings to 124 runs in 15th over. Then the Chennai captained scored 43 off 22 after getting out in last ball of the inning. Murali Vijay scored 74 runs whereas Badrinath was not out at 66.
